Default Want the BBK SSI Intake to fit your 1994-1995 Mustang GT/Cobra?

Well im sure alot us on here have seen the BBK ssi intake for the 5.0s

BBK: 1986-1993 Ford Mustang 5.0L Intake Manifold

Ever wonder why it does not fit our 94/95 mustangs? Well awhile back i was interested and did a little research. I got into contact with an employee from BBK and this is what he sent me

FITTING SSI INTAKE (5001) ON 94-95 MUSTANG GT/COBRA

ADDITIONAL PARTS REQUIRED

1. COBRA R (OR EQUIVALENT) COWL HOOD.
SSI DOES NOT FIT UNDER STOCK HOOD.

2. AFTERMARKET INTAKE ELBOW ADAPTER.
AVAILABLE AT PERFORMANCE RETAILERS.

3. 86-93 FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR.
BBK PART # 1706.

4. ADDITIONAL 3/8 PIPE PLUG TO BLOCK OFF IAT SENSOR HOLE ON LOWER MANIFOLD. (IAT ON 94-95 CARS IS IN THE INTAKE HOSE INSTEAD OF THE LOWER MANIFOLD)

5. 5/16-24 X 3/4” LONG BOLT.

6. 3/8-24 X 3/4” LONG BOLT.

FABRICATION/ MODIFICATION REQUIRED
1. MAKE A BLOCK OFF PLATE FOR THE EGR PORTS ON THE SSI INTAKE. (EGR ON 94-95 CARS IS LOACTAED IN THE ELBOW ADAPTER LISTED ABOVE). USE BOLTS 5 & 6 LISTED ABOVE TO ATTACH PLATE TO INTAKE. USE SUPPLIED EGR GASKET BETWEEN PLATE AND INTAKE.

2. HAVE A MACHINE SHOP OR QUALIFIED PERSON REMOVE THE LARGE TAB THAT IS BEHIND THE THROTTLE BODY OPENING ON THE UPPER INTAKE. SHOWN IN PICTURE BELOW
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...a/untitled.jpg

THE TAB NEEDS TO BE TAKEN DOWN TO THE SAME LEVEL AS THE THROTTLE BODY OPENING SURFACE IN ORDER TO MAKE THE ELBOW SIT FLAT ON THE INTAKE.

YOU WILL NOT NEED THE TAB BECAUSE IT IS FOR THE THROTTLE CABLE MOUNTING BRACKET ON 86-93 CARS.

94-95 THROTTLE CABLE BRACKET ATTACHES TO THE ELBOW.

SSI WILL WORK WITH BBKSTRUTTOWER BRACE PART # 2513/0 BY TRIMMING THE FOLDED OVER TAB OFF OF THE REAR PART OF THE BRACE.

THE BRACE NEEDS TO BE FLAT ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE FRONT SIDE OF THE BACK BRACKET.

BRACE SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS WHEN TRIMMED.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...p_image002.jpg

NOTE: BRACE DOES NOT CLEAR COLD AIR KITS ON 94-95 CARS THAT HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO 86-93 (FOX) STYLE THROTTLE BODY.

Awesome information! I always wondered what it'd take to do this.

Assuming the issues they had concerning the fuel rail was addressed? It seems like it'd be a good intake, even if only for the fact it isn't yet another Cobra or Explorer intake. I tend to do things that everyone else isn't doing, just like there for a while all you saw was a notchback with Pony wheels, and then they all switched to 95 Cobra R wheels. How many times can the same formula be repeated? They always looked good, but they're seen so much they weren't special anymore.
Back to the intake. I think it'd be a good intake and maybe with porting of the lower it'd make even better power. I like it, if only because it's different.

first off i wanna say thats a great post, balla. nice job.

now im getting ready for a intake and cam swap on my 94. my question is how does this compare to a cobra/gt40 intake? i mean as far as performance? because that is a sweet looking piece!

Im not sure how the numbers compare but i believe you get about 30 hp from this intake. I dont know a whole lot about this intake but i know its a pretty good intake. If i would compare it to the cobra i would say the cobra gives you more low end grunt and the SSI intake is more for high end power. If im wrong some one fill free to correct me.

Would the SSI make much of a difference with stock heads?

ya you would deff feel a difference cause the stock intake is pretty restrictive too. but everyone says the heads is whats really holding the car back. a nice set of heads with this intake should make some really nice power
