Default 1994 Mustang gt 5.0 a/c freezing up

I just recently went on a several day 400 mile adventure with my wife to the Adirondacks mountains of NY in my 94 gt Con. 5.0.
It was a hot day and while we were on the highway I decided to put the top up and use the A/C. I had serviced the system last year and fixed the vacuum leaks and all seemed well. Aster about 20 minuets I noticed less air flow coming out of the vents. I checked the defroster vents to see if the air was coming out there but it was not. I than turned the knob to just vent. after a few minuets the air flow was fine but the temp was rising. I turned the knob back to A/C and soon it was cold again. After about 10 minutes the air flow would slow down. I figured that the system was freezing up.
What causes this. Is it low charge?

sounds like one of your switches are not clicking the clutch off at high pressure. Have check your recycle switch and the high pressure switch. This is only if the lines are freezing up.
