Yes it will run cooler but i dont believe it is recomended. Have you tried running a cooler thermostat like a 160*?

It is NOT a good idea to remove the t'stat altogether and even if you do run a t'stat, don't go lower than 180*F.
Without a t'stat, then engine takes longer to warm up and consumes more fuel. The engine may also run too cool (and rich) in the winter months increasing cylinder wall wear.

If your engine's running abnormally hot, it's better to deal with the cause of the problem rather than trying to mask the symptoms by removing the t'stat.

removing it is not a good idea. for one, it will cause it to run rich, and also it wont give the radiator a chance to cool it down to be circulated into the block. If anything, replace it with a 180 deg.

Actually it'll run hotter because all of the coolant is in constant circulation. The thermostat keeps coolant in the radiator so it'll cool off, then opens to allow the cooler portion to enter the engine. Without one the entire system will get hot, making the engine run hotter.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

I agree with all above.Find the problem and fix it.May be as simple as a flush and fill with a new thermostat. Also check that the fans are working properly.

Running a 160 stat wont make it run cooler, the fans will still come on at the same temp they did before. So it will just take a little longer for the motor to reach the temp for the fans to come on. But wont cool off untill the fans come on. With no stat, you wont be able to have heat! And the winter is near!

^The air over the radiator from driving will cool it not just the fans coming on.
