well from my last thread i was talking about a numerous amount of mods to do and ive been talked into getting gears heres a rundown of my basic mods i have now:
94 Mustang GT with some decent mods already,
Cobra upper and Lower intake manifolds w/ phenolic spacer,
GT40P Heads,
Ford Racing Shorty Headers,
and Flowmaster 2.5 exhaust w/o cats
ive been told that the gears are the most bang for my buck so, thats where im headed next! ( im going to add a K&N Replacement filter into my stock intake though) just until i get a full cold air setup!
but
heres the jam,
i have a Auto Trans. and stock 2.73s in there now and i need to bump it up
help me decide which to get guys should it be.....
3.55s, 3.73s, or 4.10s
and which brand should i go with?
Ford Racing
Motive or
others?
Thanks alot guys!

the difference between the 3.55's and the 3.73's is around 300rpm's. might as well do the 3.73's. I would go with the ford gears

i have 3.90s... theyr awesome,,,, perfect if you cant decide between 3.73 and 4.10..... and since yours is an auto id prob go with the 4.10... i dont think brand matters, as long as its installed right,,, mine is an off brand and i hear no gear whine and it works and feels perfect
Do you have any future plans? If your not gonna do much more to it and since you have an auto id probably go with 4.10. But 3.73 if you might add a power adder of any kind. Oh and i like MY FRPP gears, but as long as they are installed right i dont think it makes much of a difference which brand ya go with.

hmm well im thinking of EVENTUALLY, doing 30# injectors, slightly higher cam,( have stock cam ) better pistons and rings, cold air intake and MAF , TB all 70mm so should i go 3.73s with that setup or 4.10s for later use of my mods?
whats the RPM differance between 3.73s and 4.10s
at about 70-80mph with your 3.90s wheres your tach riding? 99SVTDavis

at 70-80 mph,,,i usually am around 2200-2500 rpms,,,, really not that much of a jump from my 3.27s. But you def feel the gear difference in the lower gears
ok thanks alot guys i probably am going to go with the 3.90s i found a Ford Racing set with master install kit, and no theres no way im attempting the feat by myself, shop all the way lol

i run 3.90s and i have an auto....at 70 im just above 2500 rpm and thats as low as i will go on a car that is mostly on the street.
if your never going to the track you could go 3.73 but the 3.90s arnt much different as far as cruse rpm. i used motive gears and realy like them.
i have done 20+ 8.8 rears and ford and motive are the 2 i tell guys to buy.
if you realy want your auto to jump off the line get the wide ratio gear set for the tranny. i just had that put in mine in the spring and its amazing with the 3.90s...lol
