Default 1994 mustang gt, trickflow 360 hp, just bolt on?

Hey, i was wondering with the 360 hp kit from trickflow, if its really worth the 2500. Has anyone actually gotten to the 360 rwhp with this kit? Also, would it be recommended to get a shop to install the kit, or is it pretty much bolt on? and what else would be needed to complete the kit to run at max hp? lifters and injectors? Thanks

I have looked for a kit for a 94 but have not found one. Do you have a link to one?

The 360hp/350lbft that is quoted for the TFS Track Heat kit is at the flywheel. Factor in a 13% drivetrain loss for the rear wheel numbers if you have a T5.

If you haven't done a heads/cam/intake swap before, it's better you pay a professional to do it. You'll need an upgraded fuel pump, 24lb injectors, plus a dyno tune to optimize performance.

You know I'm not saying that this package will not work but I question it. A stock mustang GT makes 215hp. How this package is going to deliver 145hp to me is a stretch. Because in reality the ad states 360rwhp which means the jump is going to be more than 145hp. To deliver that much power to the wheel it must deliver somewhere around 400hp at the flywheel.

I didn't see a supercharger listed anywhere in there.

TrickFlow Kit at LMR.com

TFS-51511002 5.0L Track Heat Intake Manifold, black set
TFS-51402000 Hydraulic Roller Camshaft, each
TFS-51400510 Roller Rocker Arms, set of 16
TFS-21406700 Pushrods, set of 16
SUM-G6620 Roller Timing Chain Set, each
TFS-51400904 Gasket Kit, each
TFS-51411801 Black Valve Covers, pair
TFS-51400800 Billet oil fill kit

NOTE: Kits were dyno-tested on a 306 cubic inch engine with 9.5:1 compression, a 70mm throttle body, 24lb injectors, 190 lph fuel pump, mass air, and 10 base timing.

If your stock and have a 302 Your not going to make that power.

Thumbs up

Just installed the Track Heat setup on my "90",with 3:08 gears and 5 speed it pulls like a bear in the mid range.I'm having a little crankcase press. issue right now though.Once I blew the oil filler cap off, couple of times it blew the dipstick out enough for oil to spray on my headers. After connecting the oil filler spout to the tb with a rubber hose things seem to be better.Yet to get all the little bugs out,but overall I'm very pleased.I can't give you any hard #s but I hope this helps.Just make sure everything else is up for the job.Best of luck to ya!

I've tuned quite a few of these both mailorder and on the dyno. Getting 300rw out of them is fairly easy but you will be at the limit of the stock MAF and will be out of 19lb injectors.

I recommend a matched-size CAI/TB, 24lb injectors and a better flowing exhaust and you'll have a stout little combo. Tuning really wakes these things up, the factory tune will leave a lot of power on the table.

As with other major kits, you have to tune it and compliment it with proper fuel management, exhaust parts, valvetrain tuning. There's where the additional power comes from to get up there.

The ad says 360hp but that's at the flywheel so it'll be about 315hp at the rear wheels. To get that much HP with the TFS top end kit you'll need to have a CAI/bigger MAF/bigger TB/headers/free-flow exhaust/24lb injectors/upgraded fuel pump/computer tune.

to answer your question directly; yes. it IS worth the 2500 and yes, unless you're very comfortable with that type of mechanic work, get a shop to do it

ok, thanks to everyone that responded. this will be on my "save up" list. soo whats needed is CAI/bigger MAF/bigger TB/headers/free-flow exhaust/24lb injectors/upgraded fuel pump/computer tune. i have the cai, bbk all the way and flowmasters. how big of a fuel pump? and will lifters also be needed for the combo to be complete? and upgraded tb to a 70? THANKS!

The stock TB won't be much of a restriction on an H/C/I 5.0 but upgrading to a 70mm TB will give you crisper throttle response.
You'll need at least a 190lph fuel pump and you should even go for a 255lph if a stroker or forced induction are in your future plans.
You could reuse your old lifters but I'd err on the side of caution by getting new ones.
