Default 1994 Mustang GT... get crate engine? supercharger? h/c/i?

Hi There, I am in the quest for some real power> as it is now I have bolted on everything to a stock 94 gt 5 speed manual. I was wondering what would be the best bang per buck in order to make some serious power around 400hp./400tq. Realiability is important as this vehicle is mostly used on the street. thanks very much for any input!:shiny:

Crate engine is easy but pricey. Supercharger will make that 400 number but is also pricey. Heads/cam/intake is more reliable as long as the short block is running fine.

I would go with the heads/cam/intake kit because you won't have all the tuning headaches of the supercharger and it'd be easier to install than pulling the entire engine and installing the other.

thanks, I thought it may be easier to drop in a crate motor rather than heads cam and intake, as far a price, I'd have to have someone install the heads cam and intake so it would get pricey as well. I guess either way I go I'll have to upgrade the entire fuel system and will more than likely run in to problems with the ecu on my 94 gt. If I were to drop in a crate motor should I stay fuel injection or go carb? Vehicle will be mostly street going. thanks once again.

You could get a stroker engine, DSS makes really good ones. Or you could just stroke out your stock block and just get the necessary h/c/i.
You can make 400HP easier with either 331 or 347 than a 302.

dss, that is exactly whom I was looking at. Just don't know whether to go carb or stay electronic fuel injection? but thanks for leeting me know that dss makes good engines, anyone have any experience droping a 331 stroker in a 94gt? any major problems or mods necessary for the install?

Externally, the 302, 331 & 347 are the same. The 331/347 are just a basic 302 block with a stroked crankshaft and bored cylendars. I've never dealt with either of these myself but it should drop right in.
Also, if it were me I would stay with fuel injection. You can get the power you want from either carb, or injection though. Using a carb would clean up your engine bay by using less wiring. So in short, it's all up to you which way you want to go.
