1995 Mustang GT ignition cylinder worn out, trying to avoid new lock set or two keys.

My 1995 GT ignition lock cylinder is worn out and spins a bit. I know that it won't be long before it gives out and I won't be able to use the key anymore. My question is if after getting a new lock cylinder can the ignition key be re-cut to open the door locks as well? I found the following article (see link below) about re-cutting the keys for a Taurus following the 10 different cuts on the key, 1-4 and 6 being the ignition and 5, 7-10 being the door. I am wondering if it was possible to do the same with a Mustang.

I've heard of some doing that, I'm not sure if it's work. Maybe someone can tell you more.
