Default cracking noise in front end

greetings, i have always had this cracking noise in the front end under braking, and sometimes under acceleration. i had it in at the front end place, and they looked at it and put in new inner tie rods and ball joints. then when it came back, the cracking was more evident under braking and acceleration. everything steers perfect no rattles or anything, new pads in the front, rotors recut. i have no idea what that cracking is. do any of you?

Gee, good question. Sounds more suspension related to me. Have you had the the front end bushings and springs checked out?

Sounds like one of the bushings in the front controls arms are dry/cracked. The front end check would not have picked this up. Bounce the car up and down (while parked ) and determine if you get any squeaking or any other noises.

Sup. Dude, i've had a similar problem for 'bout a year now. My '94 GT vert only does it under acceration at high speeds, like merging onto the highway or passing someone on the highway, usually around 65 MPH or above. Sounds like a craking and/or poping sound, sometimes it comes from the front of my car & sometimes it comes from the rear! Just another one of the reasons why i will never buy another "rustang", problaly never domestic again!

On convertibles its the twisting of the body, subframes help but dont cure the prob.

ii dont have a vert. i think its the piece that sits inside the wheel well on the front left side. it is loose and i moved it around some and made the noise i typically hear. so since its that i will look at it and perhaps rivet that baby back in and see what happens. thanks dood

I have had similar problems. The fix for me was to lubricate the torsion bar bushings.

spyder: my car did the same thing, it was a bent spindal(sp) put the new one on, got it alligned and it never did it again. i was told it was the strut, control arm bushings and my frame. i had my car on a frame rack and the strut and control arm bushings replace. it turned out my spindle was bent. it would cause the spring to pop when it was compressed. this may not be ur problem, but this was what happend to mine.

Check your sway bar end links, my car was making strange cracking noise to had it checked out and was told to replace the front end links. So I replaced all the end links front and rear noise was gone and the car felt tighter to.

You can get either the whole links or just the bushings at pep boys just remember to grease them or they will squeak and drive you nuts.
