Default should you rebuild the trak loc when installing new gears?

well i am in the process of going with 3:73's and doing the master bearing rebuild as well. with parts and labor this will run me 650.00$ i talked to the mechanic today and he said that did not include rebuilding the trak loc. to rebuild that with parts and labor, everything will run me 770.00$ he also said he could put in extra disc in the trak loc so it will lock harder. is rebuilding the trak loc necessary, and if so should i go with the extra disc?

why leave a weak link......

i have done a few 8.8 lockers with the extra disc and if he shims it on the tight side they work real well.

the one in my 94 acted like a spool for the first few months

If you add the extra disk, you may find yourself a tad sideways if you ever drive on wet streets, at least for the first several thousand miles.
