ive been tracking down all the reasons for bad milage and fixed everything....new plugs,wires,cap,rotor,02's,msd coil, mallory ingition box,and finally the regulator i just checked and the fuel is 39 with the vacume on and 44 with it off...so i assume its bad...right?i got a new bbk off e bay from brothers performance for 40 bucks just looking for what to set it at.

with the vacuum attached 30-45 is good and detached 40-50 is good. You should be averaging close to 215 per tank. I average about 205 every tank full. Did you replace the fuel filter also?

I have no idea what yal are talking about there with the "vacuum attached" thing...
Last week when I checked my mileage I averaged about 14.8 MPG. My wife filled my tank and I don't think she wrote down the miles on my trip-odometer and just guessed at what was on there. I usually can get about 210 miles before I go and fill up.

He bought a aftermarket fuel regulator and was checking to see if the pressure was ok or not. also what range to set it at with the vacuum line on and off.

i have never broke 180 to a tank.yes i changed the filter delarosa.when i checked the fuel pressure with my buds mac gauges the fuel pressure didnt move with the vacume attached and revving the motor.so i assume its bad.

so i put the regulator on and the freaking thing leaks.no matter what o ring i used how tight or loose i got the bolts.and last i checked my mileage was right about 14 and some change.stock 5.0's should be cracking 20 on the highway and im only getting 14.something and im cruising at 55 with 273's.what the f^%$.

ya the leak is fixed...dont know how.but it is.and no its not sluggish,i havent set the fuel pressure yet.but on my next day off i will.(tuesday).my fox had a nuetral balanced 306 with power heads,tfs1 cam, eddie rpm intake, long tubes,o/r x pipe and flows, dyno tunes to 280rwhp/313tq.and it pulled 26 to the gallon on the highway.

You guys are all missing one thing. Earlier this year, most states started mandating the blending of up to 10% Ethanol into the gasoline that you buy at the pump. They sweetened the deal by giving some pretty strong concessions to the oil companies (taxwise).
I did some comprehensive testing, all on trips to the same location at the same time of day. Prior to using the blended fuel, I could get 20MPG for the trip (heavily modified 94 GT with AODE trans, and 3.91 gears). After the blended fuel mandate took effect, I now get 16 MPG for the same trips, same time of day, and pretty much the same traffic patterns. This is mostly open highway, with only a couple of traffic lights. The trips are 70 miles each way.
I'll be glad when the mandate expires, and hopefully the States will be smart enough to not buy into something like that again. Others have done the same tests, and pretty much report at least a 12% decrease in fuel mileage. Bit*h to you Congressperson and Senator to repeal this mandate. Your Mustang will love you for it.

so its the f*&ked up gas blend.so when does it expire.the mandate.why add more ethanol?
I think about mid year (2009). The manufacture of Ethanol is artificially driving the cost of food up as well, since the corn growers will sell to the highest bidder. It is also hurting the world's supply of grain that the US has historicially sold to other countries. I don't think that the idea was completely fleshed out prior to them running Hell bent into production of the garbage.
