I took the a/c compressor and condensor off along with the lines. It took about 50 pounds off the front end and I'll never go back to a/c on the car.

I was told it would give you about 10hp. The main reason I did it was because of the weight.
With it off I could tell a differance.

You got most of the little bolt ons already on the car. I say get a better suspension first, sub frame connectors, short throw shifter, and a aluminum drive shaft. And if you want more weight off the car you can get a rear seat deleat kit. That takes off about 35-40 pounds.

Next up would be h/c/i

Once you get the h/c/i thats when you should be looking at a better clutch.

Horsepower gains will be small, just like losing the smog pump. But it takes over 50 pounds off the front end and lighter weight is just like more power.

I did it for less weight vs. 10 hp. But with both you can lose!!
It's a nice differance once it's off. I say go with it if you dont mind being alittle hot.

My A/C hasn't worked in almost 2 years. I haven't owned one car and had the A/C work the whole time. So I don't even use A/C in a car where it actually works.
I've been wanting to do this along with taking out the smog pump.
How long did it take you to get rid of all the A/C stuff?

I've been interested in this also. I live in washington where for the most part its always raining or cold and I don't mind being a little hot here and there. What is involved in doing the delete?

Not to long. Only a few hour's.

For the a/c compressor theres around 4-5 bolts in all, 2-3 that hold it to the motor and another 2 on the back of the compressor that have the lines bolted in.

Once it's unbolted the compressor will drop out and the lines will hang.

The fastest way to get the condensor out is to dran the radiator and un-bolt it (only around 2-4 bolts.. Pull the radiator out.
If you never plan on using it again and diching it (the condensor, which is in front of your radiator) . Take a saw or grinder and cut the lines that run into it. After doing that the comdensor will pull out.

Bolt the radiator back up and your done with that part.
Last is the lines and the container that are on your fire wall.
Unbolt that and cut the lines and she's done.

**I bought a a/c eliminator pully so I couldnt tell you the size belt you will need if you arnt going to use one.

i just pulled off my smog pump and got a shorter belt... i would believe that you can save some $$$$ if you went my route, but as for removing everything it is really easy.. i do not recommend cutting the lines.. get the tool from autozone.. remove the lines right, and ebay the condenser and lines,

as for me.. i just put a/c back on the car.. i can get 10 hp somewhere else... i love my a/c in a black car its great.

LoL
You guys with your fancy A/C... spoiled...
Nah, I've just gotten so used to being without it that I don't even use it in cars that it works. Even though it uses very little extra gas it's more of an incentive to get rid of it.

How much does the condenser weigh? If I take my A/C out I would like to keep it where I can put it back in when/if I want.

The condenser,

maybe 5 pounds at most.
My compressor frozze up on me so I took it all out and didnt want to pay to get a new one.

The motor ran a tiny bit cooler with the condenser out. And with the lines off it will move around a bit but not to much to do anything.

But like I said before the weight it self is all worth it plus another 10 hp hell why not your killing 2 birds with one stone!!!

Recharge depends where you go. In wisconsin it's any where to 80 -100 bucks.

If your in wisconsin I'll charge ya a case of beer and call it even. I do it at the father inlaws shop.

My wife b and m's about the car being hot. But hey!!!!
She no longer wants to ride in it!!!!!
