I'm basically just looking for a fast DD that will see the track occasionally. I would just like to be able to keep up with a lot of the new muscle thats comin out. I think this port/polish setup will get me to where I would like to be. If you guys have any better idea's for me feel free to let me know. I'm always tryin to learn something. You guys have been a huge help! I'll keep you guys posted on how things are goin.

Well I just stumbled across some the edelbrock performer heads.

Edelbrock 60259 - Edelbrock Performer RPM Cylinder Heads - summitracing.com

It would be a little bit more to buy these than port/polish my heads from thumper. Are these a better way to go? and then i'd still port/polish the intake. What do ya guys think?

I've heard a lot of good things about those heads, but I agree that if you're willing to spend that much you might as well get some AFR's or Twisted Wedge. 185's are probably bigger than what you need, for a daily driver.

would the 165's be good then? I've been told that the ported gt40's will flow almost as good as out of the box 165's.

165's should work just fine. I've never heard that the GT40's can match the 165's. AFR makes a good product and have done a lot of research. I would use 185's on a stroker engine that needs that extra air. But for a daily driven 302, 165's will do great and could get you into the 12's with the right cam, intake, headers and such.

Plus I would get the weight savings from the aluminum heads. If only I had more money haha. Well we will see how things go in the future. For now I'll stick with the p/p idea, but who knows maybe money will come rollin in sometime

A 302 with 165 heads may put a fox into the 12s. But a 94-95, I have yet to see that. Not NA.

Someone on here has a thread about his '94-'95 Cobra running mid 12's with very few engine mod's but plenty of suspension mods. I'll find it real quick. Our '94-'95s aren't THAT much slower than the FOX guys.

yeah, I've actually seen that thread i have it in my favorites I know that the reason the 94-95's are slower are because they weigh more and the suspension is mediocre. That's what I am trying to get this suspension done first. That guy is runnin 12's with no serious engine mods of any kind. stock h/c/i and he has a ton of money into his suspension. That's what really gave me the idea to do the suspension. That's why I was thinkin i can hit the 12's with a good amount of suspension done and then p/p my stock heads and intake. Plus I have the 347 too.

The 94-95 also has a problem with the crappy programming of the factory computer. This combined with the fact that its heavier is why it is slower than its fox counterpart.

Believe what you like, but a stock 94-95 GT or Cobra for that matter ain't runnin 12 anything, I don't care what kind of suspension mods it has. Now the right 347 with the right suspension, supporting mods, gears and tires no problem.

this guy seems to think otherwise.

The computer may be crappy but it can be tuned and work just fine.

Impressive, if its true. Unlike you I don't beleive everything I read on-online. SCT tune, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and intake spacer is a little of a stretch for bone stock. However the long block looks untouched. So if that combo put him in the 12's it is still rather impressive. It would have been more impressive if he had posted a time slip to back it up. Most veterans on this board would have done so. The fact that the stock computer can be tuned for better performance is common knowledge around here. Again I was speaking a bone stock car.

If your confidant that combo will put you in the 12's problem solved. GO FOR IT. Be sure to come back and let us know how that worked out for you.
