Is your car automatic. I pritty sure that there were only two different opptions. The standard was the 2.73. If you had a five speed this is what is usually stock. The other opption is 3.08s. Not many knew about the opption so it's kind of rare. If yours is automatic then it came with 3.08s from factory. I maybe wrong. Thats what I know about 87-93 cars so 94 one more year. Can't be to off

There is a tag on the rear housing cover that has your gearing on it. If you don,t know how to read it, post what it has on it and we can tell you

i was gonna drain the fluid tommorow and replace it with new stuff because its just over 100k now and should be done. my dad has 80x 90 gear lube and it says for limited slip differentials. would this work on my stang? if not, what do you recomend to use. also i beleive vortex said just to use black silicon instead of a gasket...looking for any advice before i proceed. thanks

Using black silicon is fine. That's what I did. Synthetic gear oil is best if you can get some.

I think snakebite means limited slip rear not a locker.

Y is the code for a non limited slip 3.08 axle Z is the code for a limited slip 3.08 axle. 5 is the code for a non limited slip 3.27 axle, E is the code for limited slip 3.27 axle. the limited slip differentials are the Ford Traction-Lok. Im not sure what the nonlimited slips were used in but the V6's got 2.73 im pretty sure. GT 5speeds got 3.08s and GT autos got the 3.27's

well, i've only lost to a 2000 z28 so far. The only reason why i beat everybody else is because i start to pull away because of the gears, and i can't get :ooh::ooh::ooh::ooh: worth of traction on the start either. Is there any good way to get a better start without bogging down the engine or peeling out? And I feel a little pissed too. A 90 SHO was just a car length behind me when i raced him up to 90. I need some more cheap stuff to do to my car to make it faster. Any ideas?
