Well, I have a 1995 5.0L Mustang SVT with Edelbrock Performer heads, and intake manifold (both have mild port work), 70mm BBK Throttle body,BBK Cold air intake, 30lbs injectors, Bassani shorty headers, Bassani Off-road X-pipe, 3.73 gears, T-5 transmission, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Smog delete, A/C delete, MSD Pro-Billet Distributor, MSD Blaster Coil, 10 degrees timing. I just recently installed an E-303 camshaft. Cant get it to idle well. When you start it up it has a rolling idle and tries to die, but if you play with the throttle for a few seconds it will idle well, choppy, but well.
Then when you rev it, it drops to 1500rpm, and after a few seconds it idles fine @ about 800-850ish. Is this most likly the Dumb computer, and if so, how do I correct this condition. Don't Know of too many Dyno tuners around. Any help will be appeciated.
guess I did metion it was a T-5, oops. Anyway I was reading threw some other threads, and realized my throttle body has 2 adjustments, not 1. I'm going to try adjusting the idle screw on the right side. Adjusting the throttle stop screw doesn't seem to help.
Good luck, its your computer the 94-95 computers suck they dont like any changes especially the e-303 cams, ive been dealing with mine for quite a while, a good tuner and a good dyno tuner person should be able to fix the problem not many around but there is one on this site that i know of and hes to far away from me to have him work his magic, do post up whatever changes you do to fix the issue we would all like to know, i have turned my idle up to about 1100 rpms to keep it from dieing at stop lights thats my fix for now.
Well, the idle screws are practially useless. I called up the only guy with a dyno around@
"Auto Electric & Performance Specialties"
The owner told me he could probably fix it with a diablo chip and a good dyno tune. So, seems to be the only way to FIX the idle problems. The price tag is a little out of my reach at the moment.
If I figure something out I'll post it, but it may take some time. Guess our computers do suck, but the E cam sounds so nasty, gunna have to save my bucks.
i had the same problem with my car, i have a bigger cam (z303) but still the same problem, i went and bought a 93cobra computer and had it tuned and know i have no idle problems
if you were messing with the TB screws you have to reset your TPS voltage.
i know they say .98 is where to put it but dont be afarid to play with it. my buddys 95 has a ton of mods like yours and he needs to run like 1.4-1.6v to get his to idle and run right.

So, what kind of other issues did you run into when swapping EEC units, and are you talking about a dyno tune?

The TPS are not adjustable on 94-95's.
Some have drilled bigger holes and changed the TPS values but
the ECM looks at the beginning voltage . The Fox bodies can be adjusted better. You need a tune or a do it yourself tuner like Tweecer or Moates or a dyno tune. It is very frustrating when the car does not idle correctly it is very difficult without manipulting the ecm. Some can burn you a chip and make it run allot better than what you got.

So, do you think a dyno tuner can manipulate the factory 1995 cobra ecm with a chip to get it to idle correctly?
Thanks for the help.
if the tuner knows what he is doing he should be able to fix almost every problem you have, as long as it the ecm is causing the idle problem, if its another component causing the idle issues then there prob wont be much of an improvement
Tunning it with a chip from a dyno tune would be the way to go.
Also make sure you have no vacum leaks before you think it might
be your ecm. A vacum leak will usually cause erratic idle as you described. They are very touchy to any vacum leaks!!
