1995 Mustang GT Power Window Problem

Ok so when i try to let my drivers side window down i have to keep pressing it down to get it to go down, and then it only goes down a little at a time. But it'll go up just fine. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Its getting aggravating.

is it supposed to be auto down? sounds like the motor isn't happy, also part of the regulator could be sticking or binding on the way down

does it make a knockin sound when its trying to go down? i also have to help me window go down & up. could be the window regulator plugs they wear out sometimes

If you can hear the motor trying to roll the window down but the window doesn't move then it's more than likely the gears in the motor are stripped. It's very common for this to happen.

You can get a window motor gear kit from AutoZone for pretty cheap. It took me about 30 minutes to do mine.
