If you want to verify, jack the rear up and slide under. make a mark on the bottom inside sidewall of one rear tire. Make a mark on the bottom of the driveshaft. Rotate the wheel one full revolution and count the number of revolutions the DS makes. 2.75=2.73's, 3.5 = 3.55's, 3.75= 3.73's etc. Or you can open up the pumpkin and count gear teeth then divide the larger by the smaller.

Default Simple way

Look under the rear of your car at the differential and there should be a thin metal tag that says what gear ratio you have. If it is 2.73 it will say 2L73, I think. The L stands for locker. It would be in some order. I will look at mine and confirm. Hope this helps.

Ummm if the L stood for anything it would be "Limited". As in Limited Slip. It is not a locker. Very different animal that is not meant for the street.

traction lock is ford's term for POSI rear end. not like litereally lock where both wheels spin ALL the time.

Vortex....are those codes just for 94-95 GTs?

What other Ford rear axles will work in my 95 GT and swap right over with 5 lugs and my disk brakes/ABS and driveshaft length?

Will 96-98 axles work or are they different parts?
