1995 Mustang, AODE to T5 swap. Speedometer doesn't work.
Alright, I swapped the failing AODE out of my 95 GT for a fox NWC-T5. It runs and drives great, but my speedometer doesn't work anymore. I put the VSS out of the AODE into the T5 and hooked it up to no avail.
I stuck my finger into the hole that the VSS fits into and could not feel a gear, not sure if that is relevant or not, lol. Thanks for any help.
I know you supposed to cut the smooth rod sticking out of the gear to about half it's length for proper operation. While you have the gear out, you sould see a gear-looking thing towards the tail shaft when looking in the hole.
There is supposed to be a plastic worm gear pressed onto the output shaft that the speedo drive gear meshes with in order to run your speedometer. You should be able to at least see it and/or feel it by sticking your pinky finger up inside the casting. If it is missing, that is a problem.
not sure about modifying the AOD bullet to work on a T5, I would just get a T5 bullet and connect to your harness/cable and be done with it.

Yea, there's definitely not a gear in there.
Oh well, good excuse to buy a GPS. I'll just use it as my speedo.
Thanks for the help guys.
Where did the gear go?
I too use my Garmin as my speedometer but that's because mine is electronic and I changed rear gears and tire size and my speed is off about 6mph. I didn't see spending $380 on a tuner yet when I already had the Garmin.
