Actually if there is no grinding occurring, my bet would be the clutch cable.
All too often the cable stretches and causes a progressively harder pedal effort which makes it harder to get into gear.
When the sycnros start to wear, the teeth on the blocking rings get rounded and lose their "pointed edge". When this happens, it starts grinding. A
tranny that is getting progressively harder to get into gear is
usually something in clutch.
