OK in the last 20 miles of an 800 mile cross country move, the AOD-E in our 95 GT took a dump.
We now only have 1st gear, 2nd gear, and reverse. Reverse seems to slip. occasionally it will try to shift to third, but it will rev in neutral, and drop back to second.
Where do we start? Is this a rebuild issue? or a valvebody issue? Any suggestions. Rebuilt transmissions are expensive, let alone one from PA or Lentech.
Mods to the trans/related are: 2800 stall PI stallion converter installed a year ago, and before we bought the car (which was about 2 years ago) there was 3.55 gears, Baumann recal-pro shift kit (set at stage 3), B&M trans cooler
Thanks in advance
Sean and Candice Belden

since you went with a higher stall converter you might also want to add a transmission cooler, cause the one thing aod's hate is heat and with the stall conerter you added you just pushed the heat index up. mine died around 70k.
My 94 GT trans started slipping real bad at 155,000 miles. I had a rebuilt one installed 3 yeas ago and recently at 222,000 miles the rebuilt one is slipping (67,000 miles later). It is strange, some days it works fine, other days it jerks hard. I have learned how to drive it like this, real easy on the accelerator, when I feel it slip I let off and ease back into it. It's like I can shift it with the gas pedal. It's fine around town below 45 and on the highway above 65, it's the 50 mph range that it slips. It's been doing this for 3 months. The car is all stock, I'm the original owner! I'm getting a new car soon, so I can play with the 94' and do some rebuilding. Thats the only major problem I have had in 9 years and 222,000+ miles. She still looks great, and yes I do I baby her. Love that car!!
here's a question for you tranny experts...
if I'm on the highway and hammer it, sometimes it'll downshift right to 3rd, other times it will slip to nuetral, if i don't hammer it all the way down it's fine and will down shift perfect....
any thoughts,
thanks
