Sorry I keep asking similar questions, but would the power gain of a cai (bbk or otherwise) be any more significant than a K&N fipk? I realize that a CAI is not going to give me much power to begin with, but I'm trying to get the most out of my limited funds lol. Thanks in advance for any help!
I have the K & N FIPK for my 07 and noticed immediate improvement... not sure of the power gains, but there was a large difference in responsiveness. You can check out my review. Good luck with your decision.
I have the MAC CAI and love it. I don't see where the
metal "gets hot" to affect performance. Plus it has a
cool sound under full throttle. Just be careful, whichever
way you go, to not over oil your air cleaner. That messes
up your MAF...

Either one will do the job. Some people don't like the K&N kit because it leaves the filter under the hood, where it will suck in warm air from the engine compartment. But I don't think it makes THAT much of a difference. Just about anything is better than the stock box unit!
I say, get the K&N kit, then if you can afford it, get the C&L intake tube to complete it. Or call K&N and get one of their CAI's because the tube they use is made of a plastic rubber material (I think...)

If your'e worried about the metal pipe getting hot, what about the k&n kit staying under the hood and sucking in all the hot engine air? Your best bet is to go with a CAI whether it be BBK which I own and love, or any other brand. Just make sure it relocates your filter away from the hot engine air. The BBK intake isn't really much of a metal anyway, It's kind of a plastic.
