Hey I just got some BBK shorties for my 94 gt and I was wondering how difficult it would be to install them by myself and a friend. Would it be too difficult, my friend knows his way around cars pretty well. I also got a mid pipe, I am assuming that requires welding and should be left to be done by a shop right? Thanks!!
hey, me and my friend did the exact same thing you did a couple weeks ago.
plan for it to take twice as long as you expect since its your first time. make sure you header gasket bolts are completely on. drive the car once there on, and then tighten them again.
for the midpipe, thats pretty easy, and no need to weld that...just use bolts!
To tighten the bolts....
Start from the two middle bolts and work your way out.
Just snug them down first (again starting from the middle and working your way out). After you get them all snug then go through and tighten them all the way. Always work from the two middle bolts and work your way out.
I switched most of my header bolts to allen head bolts... helps keep you from stripping a bolt head. That's just a suggestion though, the bolts that BBK provide will work just fine.
If you send it to a shop you're wasting money that you could spend on other goodies. If you have basic tools and time you can do this swap. Have fun and good luck. Let us know how it goes.
