Hi guys & girls!how's everybodys doing?I need ur help,I'm not a mechanic...I installed trickflow stage 1 hci on my gt 94.I also chaNge distributor. But she won't start.firing order is good,I got spark...whAt could be the problem? Will the wrong placement of the vacum hoses will cause this?pls I need ur help guys!thanks a lot!
I had a similar problem with my '87 GT. It turned out to be the little sensor at the base of the distributor (under the rotor). I think its called a reluctor. Anyway, the part costs ~$15 and it took ~60minutes to install and now my '87 runs fine. You have to remove two roll pins to remove the drive gear and a retainer plate.
I looked at everything else before considering the distributor because it was new from MSD, wish I would have checked it sooner. I don't know of any way to check the reluctor to see if it is bad or not, I just replaced it because there was nothing left to replace.
its in the hole, but turned 180 degrees(backwards) from where it should be. the rotor is pointing backwards. turn the engine by hand, and bring #1 cylinder to t.d.c. take the cap off and see if the rotor is at #1.
