Default School the newbs: Essentials for a good launch>

Alright guys I'm getting my 95 cobra sometime next week and it appears that quite a few of us "newbies" including myself need to be schooled on how to get a good launch WITHOUT blowing the clutch up or out or whatever...so...any step by steps could probably do a lot of us a lot of good...

Okay, first off you DONT want the emergency brake on while launching.

That's as far as i know =/

Well it depends on what kinda car you have, if you have a 600hp car with street tires you dont wanna be launchin at like 6k rpms... I'm not the best driver considering i'm only 15.. i know we got some kickass drivers here though!

The stuff you pour on your tires is either VHT or Sprit (pronounced sprite, not the soda though) but some track's won't let you use that.

If you are on street tires, DO NOT DO A BURNOUT. Before going to the track pick the rocks out of your tires, and when you get to the track just spin the back tires for maybe a second to get the rocks you picked up on the way out.

Pull up and stage.

foot to the floor on the clutch, shifter in 1st, bring it up to the RPM you want to launch at - probably around 2000 or so, and as soon as that last yellow comes on, ease the clutch out and the throttle in until you are moving without spinning. Once you are moving with traction - foot to the floor on the gas, shift as hard as you possibly ******* can in 2nd, once more in 3rd.

This has worked beautifully for me in my 01 TA when I had it, and my current stang.

my moms 3000GT is so ridiculously fast... I dont know man, its even a 5 spd, mine is an auto. We're going to bring them up to NH Dragway sometime and I'll race my dad, probably rip me to pieces, but it will be worth a try!

3000GT is AWD and this thing will be going like 40 in second gear if that gives you a good idea. Not only that but the 3000GT is a V6 so it saves BIG time on gas. BUT they dont make 3000GTs anymore so they are hard to come by and very expensive. Im not sure what model my moms car is.
