4 Grand? Is that guy smokin' crack or what. Spend about 1500 on your heads/cam and intake(used of course), pay for my gas to drive to Cali and I'll do it for free.

I just noticed MustangPat lives in Cali, perhaps he'll come up and give you a hand?

yeah that is crazy expensive, considering you can get the TFTW H/C/i Kit for 2500 brand new!

Wow 4k sounds like alot but I guess its not so bad depending on what parts the dude was going to sell ya.. Heads 1800 Intake 800 Labor 1400. It is not exactly easy to do all that work, them rusty header bolts suck. Hell, I have had a timing belt for a Buick cost $500 years ago.

The dude shoulda added the cam though. Ya have to watch out he could just want to take it all apart to add a cam later and make even more money.

MAF, Injectors, Tune, headers, H or X pipe and Cat Back sys. will help alot after the HCI.

Maybe ya might just want to do a cat back sys.. Ya should be able to DIY.

you can get a set of heads way cheaper than 1800, and what intake are you buying for a 302 that is 800 bucks? The TFS kit is 2500 bucks. New fluids, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump, MAF, 24 lb injectors, and a case of beer won't cost anymore than 500 bucks. So a weekend of wrenching and 3 grand you got yourself a wicked ride.

And I've never had a problem with my rusted header bolts, they usually come out with ease. It's the intake bolts that like to break off in the heads, but since he'd be changing the heads, it wouln't matter much.

The_Mustang.. I like your thinking. Not quite ready for it yet, but I'm going to give my neighbor a hand who is putting a supercharger into his el camino. I'm sure he'll help me out in return. That will be way more fun than spending 4k at the shop.
