Default Lost my tranny....Need answers fast 1995 Mustang GT

Ok well the worst thing that could happen to my 95 Mustang GT happened...tranny is f'ed. at first i thought it was just first gear i lost, but with further driving (was trying to get home from wrok) i found out it was A LOT more...So i drove it to a transmission place and left it over night.

I was wondering what kind of transmission it has. Is it an AOD or AODE? Also what might it cost me to do a rebuild on it? Would it just be better to buy a high preformance transmission...

Please reply fast, I gotta go meet the repair man tomorrow...

at first i thouhgt it was only first gear, Because after it would shift outta 1st it was smooth. so i kinda baby it the rest of way to work (about a mile from when it started). I get there and drive to my first post. And it had only gotten worse. So i let the car cool for about 4 hours. Get in it again and am ready to go home. I still only thought it was first gear so i was gonna go onto the freeway and just baby it home also. But just befor i get on the freeway i shift into 3rd and my car shakes BAD! like i thought i got hit by someone. So i knew not to bring it onto the free way. so i just drive a painful 30 miles to the local tranny repair man. as i drove there it got worse, now every gear drives rough.

idk bout the cost... get some ideas from the guys here on who's reputable for your location. had an AODE in mine... traded for a Tremec t-56... ask the rebuilder about a J-Mod... on a beefy build; it'll turn that 5.0 into a monster!

No. For a little over $2000 you can get a new tranny from PA Automatic that'll handle at least 450hp.

It wouldn't hurt to have a tranny that can handle a lot more HP than stock even if you don't really need it, and it'll cost just $400 more than a stock rebuild on your old tranny.
This is a good time to think about upgrading the torque converter and adding an auxiliary tranny fluid cooler.
