A reason to use aftermarket tachs/shift lites? My car has been kind of chugging a bit on the top end, like 5500 and above. The only way I can describe it is it feels just like I'm hitting the rev limiter on my crane hi-6, only it does it even without the ignition hooked up. I remembered that my shift light seemed to come on a little earlier then the corresponding RPM on the tach, so I did a little experiment and set my shift light to 5800 and reved my car to see at what RPM on the tach the shift lite came on. It ended up coming on at approximately 5200 RPMs. Now I'm in kind of a dilemma. Do I trust the shift lite (Raptor, hooked up to the factory tach signal wire), or do I trust my stock tach with my aftermarket white face gauges? If in fact my tach is off, which I'm willing to bet it is, does this mean that when I'm reving up to 5500+ on my tach, I'm actually reving my car well over 6000? Scary thought....
