i have a 1994 mustang gt 5 litre my transmission drops down gears as im just driving down the road any body tell me what might be wrong with it It is an automatic
so your saying it will do that any old time out of the blue?
i would get it serviced and throw a shift kit in it as well. the trannsgo kit replaces most of your old springs and a few valves, plus the directions are full of other tranny mods.
this might not fix it but it is cheap and the shift kit will extend it's life.

If it's just happening out of the blue without any change in throttle position, the problem is likely to be a faulty manual lever position sensor (MLPS). It's situated on the outside of the tranny on the driver's side and is easily accessible if you have the car on a lift.
We need to know when where why how all that stuff. let us know and we will let you know.
