Default 1995 Mustang cobra, which cam?

getting ready to drop a cam in my new 95 cobra, but unsure which one is going to sound the best and perform good. I want a decent lope but one that doesnt sound like its about to cut off. Ive been looking at the trick flow stage 2 cam with a 236/248 duration a cam lift of .359/.372 with 1.6 rockers with valve lift of .574/.595 and a lope separation of 110. But i want to make sure that i get one that sounds good and performs well. Any suggestions?

the stage two will not fit in your motor you will have piston to valve clearence with the 1.7 rr that the cobras had. even with the stage 1 you will be at .544 which is cutting it close. you will also need a tune with that cam because of its lobe seperation and our picky computers.

Do you still have the stock GT40 heads and intake???
The cam is going to depend on the heads, intake, and exhaust not sound.

The cam depends on the intake and heads, among other things. Sticking in a bigger cam without complimenting it with supporting parts that can support it will be a waste of time, effort, and money to get just as much, if not less than, performance that you had before.

I understand your want for the choppy idle! Its been a cool thing since my dad was a hot rodder! Learn from the mistakes of many of us and do as the others have said, buy for compatibility of your parts and preformance instead of sound. Usually a choppy cam has a large Valve Overlap caused from high Duration which is best suited for higher RPM engines. This can cause you to have low performance and drivablitiy issues as well as poor vacuum that will cause you to have brake issues among other things. You should start with the basics first. Remove all of the things that are restricting airflow before the cam i.e. intake, throttle body, heads, MAF and headers as well. Once you get these this working properly contact a cam manufaturer and give them all of your specs and they will make a cam just for your car, its not that much more than getting an off the shelf grind either! Then you will need to deal with getting your computer to function correctly with the new bumpstick!
