Default 40A Fuse Keeps Blowing - Please Help me with the WHY?!?!

Hello all,

I have a 5 speed Mustang GT. I recently have been having problems with the 40A fuse going to the fuel pump!

It started a couple of months ago when I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the car just died! I had just had the pump replaced along with the filter so I was really baffled. I took it to a mechanic and he took down the pump to see if it would come on directly. It did and he really had no clue what was going on. He said he tampered with the harness that goes behind the engine and runs along the fire wall, replaced the fuse and it cranked!!!

Well, this lasted for about 500 miles or so before I am having the same problem only now it blows the fuse as soon as I replace it!!

I will test the fuse and its fine... put it in, turn the ignition, the pump doesn't prime and check the fuse and it's dead!!!

Please help me determine what could possibly be causing this!

Mods:
I have added aluminum edelbrock heads with an Anderson N-21 cam & trickflow upper and lower intake, along with a sct chip to go with:

*Hpipe with no cats
*Longtube Headers
*Cold air intake
*Throttle body
*Crankshaft Pulley

replace the fuse and disconnect the positive from the fuel pump. try to start the car again. if the fuse blows again without it being hooked up to the pump it means you have a short somewhere along that positive. could also be that your pump is bad. go get a junk yard one and try to swap it out.

Default short

hey id check your wires to the pump where the gas tank and floor pan meet..theres a harness to the pump that literally gets cramed aka sandwiched between the tank and floor..mine had a short just like that..dropped the tank and found the grommet on trunk floor pan pushed out and the wires were rubbing and shorting out to ground..taped the shaffed wires and reinstalled the grommet and bam works like a charm

One other thing to note... my fan comes on whenever I turn the key. I don't believe this has occurred before! Could it be the CCRM?
