Default 95 gt clutch change in driveway

I need to change my clutch and I need to know how hard is it to do in my driveway on jack stands under rear axle and front tires on ramps.

This would be my first clutch change without a lift and trans jack.
If you have any pointers, or if this is too much for jackstand maint.

Aahhhh...well....its possible assuming you have enough clearance to move the transmission out from the tranny tunnel, but I don't recommend it. I did mine for the first time with 4 jack stands at their highest setting, a weekend, and plenty of curse words. I was able to lower the transmission by hand with the help of a friend but it wasn't at all easy. Long story short I spent all of Sunday and Monday morning until 6:30 AM before school started at 8, scrambling to get finished.

The worst thing you will encounter is getting you car high enough. As long as your not going to do any thing to the trannie itself you do not have to have it that high. It is just a little tight working on it this way. With will power and a little thinking you would be suprized about the things you can do even without the fancy lifts.
Do me a favor though please before you crawl under your car make sure it is stable and will not fall on you.

Yea, please secure that car real good. Remember that you'll be moving the car around alot when your working on the tranny. Get a buddy to help you out. The tranny is not very heavy but it does suck tring to do this laying under the car.

Yes you can do this while the car is on jack stands. I have taken my tranny out of the car at least 7 times this summer using jack stands. I always did it with a friend though, its way easier that way.

Cool

I swapped out my stock T-5 for a TKO 3550 in my garage on jack stands with no problems. It makes it easier if you disconnect the exhaust mid pipes and move out of the way. I did it by myself with out any kind of jacks for the tranny.

Like everyone else said make sure that the car is stable and secure before you get under and start pulling on bolts. You won't like the outcome if you don't.

+1 to removing the midpipe...not only is it easier, but at least in my case it was required in order to remove the driveshaft. Although please try and make sure you have someone there with you at least to help if something does go sour and you get pinned...especially while unbolting the transmission. If you have as many problems as I ran into that time, its also nice to have someone for emotional support

I found it easier to change the clutch by jacking the back of the car up as high as I could and blocking the front wheels. I did mine alone in like 2 hours. But if I were you I would have a friend tag along. The tranny is about 75 pounds, but it is a lot heavier if you are on your back trying to push up on it. I found it easy to get to the bellhousing bolts laying on the sides of the car. And again please make sure its not going to fall on you. Good luck!
