Default Transmission shift cable (linkage).

Does anyone know where to find a new shift cable for my 95 GT? Ford wants over $300 which just seem absurd to me. Found one on ebay for $145 but again still ridiculous as far as i'm concerned. Of course last time i've messed with any linkage it was just a bar that went from shifter to tranny. What is so special about this cable? Do they make a universal one?

Funny you should ask this. I was looking for some brake cables not long ago that were also outrageously priced at the dealer. Another AFM member here pointed me to this site:

AutoZone.com | Shifter Cable

You'll have to poke around to get the right one.

Hope that helps

You can also get a Summit cable, I got this one when the sheath on mine split, and didn't allow the cable to extend and put the car in park. Most cars use a 5 foot cable.

Dang...only $33.00. That's incredibly inexpensive.

FYI, the cable from the six is identical to the GT.

Default hurst

hurst makes a shifter cable too that goes with the ratchet shifter but fits factory shifters. They are much cheaper.
