Default 1994 Mustang GT Going synthetic

I have a 94 Gt/302, auto. It has 158K miles and want to switch to synthetic oil.
Is this too many miles to change over? Don't have any leaks runs great.

Thanks
JT

My 91 has 138,000 Km (85750 Miles) and had no leaks until I put synthetic oil in it last Spring... Over the winter I had to change the oil pan gasket and I think my rear main seal is leaking also...
So take it from there....

Keep conventional in at this point, the new breed of Synthetics are not supposed to cause leaks but others here have said problems have arisen!

My old car burned a butt ton of oil once I started using syn, cause it cleared out all the oil films.

Its all about miles... personally I use synthetic even if its got 200k on it.. synthetics are far superior to petroleum based oils..

i have seen all kinds of behavior changes in an engine by just switching type of oil run it.. the synthetic will clean out sludge build up, resulting in a smoother, cooler running engine over time.. Its proven fact also..

here these should explain alot...

Dude those links look like they were written by someone in a college class, and they seem to be an opinion. But nonetheless, I guess stick with whatever works for each person.

mine has 155,858 i use syn, but the car has always been run with syn. if i were you i would stick with conventional oil. changing at high mileage could cause leaks and unwanted problems.

Most likely any car with higher miles that has not been switched to Synthetic will leak! Doesnt matter the miles if early on it was switched over. However it will leak someday! Probably later than sooner. I agree with if it aint broke dont fix it. Oh and if it aint broke dont break it, TOO

Those articles do make alot of sense. Why do you think that when you run seafoam on a car that uses conventional oil it smokes like crazy.

I only had under 1000 miles on my oil when i read about seafoam and tried it and wow that oil went from near clean to straight up nasty once i drain it. It was the darkest and dirtiest I have every seen Motor oil. So i wouldn't be surprised if all that crap was pluging up any leaking gaskets I had.

I switched to Mobil 1 10w30 at 170,000 miles and it did leak. Only half a quart every oil change. And i usually put about 500 to 1000 more miles on the oil then recommended and running the car HARD.

The way i see it is, Would you like to know whats wrong with your car and fix it then find out to late. I have so many people that come to my job asking for thicker grade oil cause their car leaks to were they even want to run 20w50 and they all have been conventional oil users.

If your to SCARED of running full synthetic go with the synthetic blend Oils.

Probably people who have switch to synthetic with high mileage rides were more then likely to start leaking oil at any time and cause it did it a short time after switching to synthetic motor oil they blame it on it. Who knows if they would of kept their regular oil in their it might have leaked sooner their old engines.

I would say go Full synthetic because i seen how their Film strength is alot better and how it makes the motor run alot quieter and smoother. Go for Full Synthetic!
