I have a 94 gt with a 347 and all the mods listed below. Recently, i have noticed that i am getting oil fumes through my vents. i notice this at idle. it uses maybe a quart every 3500 - 4000 miles. i know i have a leak somewhere up front. when i park the car i will have a puddle up front. i think its either coming from the timing cover or the front of the lower intake. my question is, how in the heck am i getting oil fumes coming through the vents? i see no oil smoke anywhere when the engine is running. there was one day when i poured a quart in and i spilled some on the oil filler tube and on the valve cover. when i went to start the car, it blew smoke out of my vents and fogged the interior. i have never seen this before. any suggestions??

Are you guys sure it isn't the heater core ? They dont always leak antifreeze on the floor . Sometimes they are more subtle . Like when you turn on the defrost it fogs the windows , ect:

no no no.. its not the heater core. I know that those will smell or you will get the steam effect on the windshield. You will only get the fumes when the car is at idle. Once moving you wont smell it. As I mentioned earlier, I poured a quart of oil in one day and spillled some oil on the valve cover. When I went to start the car up, it blew smoke (oil smoke) into the inside of the car. At this point I had to turn off the fan and roll the windows down to let the car air out. It was sorta crazy because because I was picking a girl up on a first date. hehe.. actually, she said it smelled like a snowmobile inside of my car. I felt stupid....

i am pretty sure its not an exhaust leak. first off, there is no oil fumes coming from the end of my exhaust and it doesnt reallly use any oil. you can let the car idle and not smell oil outside anywhere and there is no smoke coming from the engine anywhere. its really really strange.. i have a small leak up front and i need to find otu where its coming from first. but even with that leak, it doesnt smoke from it.. i thought the only place the fan gets its air is from the outer vents at the windshield wipers. there is no oil or smoke that is to be seen anywhere so it has to be pulling it in from somewhere.
