Default Engine Swap Question (Emissions)

I figured I'd repost this in here since the V6 lounge isn't very talkative. heh

I'm seriously thinking about doing an engine swap from the 3.8 to 5.0L, and I was wondering if anyone had any information about the emissions thing. Would a car with an engine swap pass smog? I've been told before that it won't, but i've also been told it will. Since I figured it's been done before, I'm just asking for a little clarification. Any information concerning mods and passing smog would be appreciated.

Depends on where you live. If you swap ALL the 5.0 mods with it, it might pass. Best to know someone at a inspection station. LOL!

depends on laws, but if u put the smog stuff back on it should pass an emmision test. call an inspection station and see what they say. couldnt hurt to ask.

So much trouble and headaches it isnt worth it! You would need to swap the whole drivetrain, electronics, smog etc. My head hurts just thinking about it!

It was my old mechanic who has smogged my car before who told me it wouldn't pass smog if I had a different engine in there. I'm still talking about having cats and all that. I just want to build up a 5.0 and still have it be my daily driver.
