Default 95 Cobra specs??

Can someone please tell the specs for a 95 Cobra?? HP, Torque, cam, etc.... Thginking about buying one. Thanks!!

the 1995 cobra was said to have 240 hp and torque ratings were 285 lbs.ft. for the 5.0 im not sure on the cam specs. i know they came with the big brakes and im pretty sure they had bigger sway bars too. it is said that the power ratings on the 93-95 cobras are underrated. but in my opinion, i'd go with 96+. i got a 98 and i LOVE it.

I have a 94 cobra... they have PBR dual piston calipers 13 inch brakes in front and a 11.65 single piston caliper in back. They also have a SMALLER swybar up front, but a larger one than the GT out back, im not kidding either. Another thing are the spring rates are actually higher on the GT. A cobra has a real soft suspension for some reason. I could go on for days about everything little thing that is different between the GT and a cobra,but I'll spare ya the sales pitch.

He is pretty close about the ESTIMATED HP; 240hp and 285 tq. But everyone knows they make AROUND 275 or 280 at the crank on the dyno. They were WAY underrated, for insurance reasons! I'm not sure about cam specs but it isn't to much different than the GT, it just seems to make its power a lil higher in the RPM range than a GT though. But the 1.7 alum. rockers are what is the biggest difference on the valvtrain side. But, for the motor itself the cast iron GT40 head and cobra intake do the trick. My buddy also has a 94 cobra and he told me a while back that the 94-95 cobra computers where the worst computers ever, they eat more more horsepower than a regular GT computer does.

I guess the bottom line is there is a ALOT of differences for the money, its a good investment, and its gonna be history too!

One last thing. depending on where your 94-95 cobra was bought new it had the option of having Ford Motorsports shorty headers installed at the dealer as a "factory option". Mine Did! Good luck with your search man. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I don't know everything, or even close, but I can tell you a bit about the SN95 Cobras!

They are definately underrated because my buddy bought one brand new and put a flowmaster exhaust on it and some 3.73 gears and ran a 12.91 in the quarter with it. I couldnt believe it. He is one of the best drivers with a stick that I have ever seen. He runs his bone stock 89 gt with zex nitrous system and has run 12.5 with bfg drad radials.

I find that hard to believe... My cobra is bone stock and a I ran a 2.0 shorts and 14.5 quarter times. There is NO WAY! Because a catback system will gain about 5 or 10 horsepower and 3:73 will gain .3 tenths if your lucky!! Sounds like he didn't tell you what all he had done!

12.9 is the equivalent of an 03-04 cobra!

i dont think that year cobra was WAY underrated, the reason it appears that way is because the tuneing on them was pretty bad so with aftermarket tuning/chips they were able to free up some extra ponies. if you want the cam specs look into the E-303 or cranes 2040, (they are the same cam) im almost positive that is the cam in there.

the reason the suspension is softer and the swaybar lighter in front is to let the car lift and transfer its weight to the back easier at take off. its more drag race friendly.

blue oval you said the car had the option of having Ford Motorsports shorty headers installed at the dealer as a "factory option". my question is, as opposed to what??

i also doubt he ran a bone stock cobra to a 12.91, not without some serious suspension mods to make up for the lack of hp.

Opposed to the factory GT 5.0 style headers..... It says "ford motorsport" on the passenger side header. Heres a link... http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=1332... This ain't a very good picture.. but you can tell right of those are not the headers that came on stock GT mustangs... plus i got the dealer instruction for installing it... not just regular install instructions.

i wonder what the differences are? the headers that came out of my GT had "ford motorsport" stamped on them, and looked liked those......except alot dirtier. lol

I'm noy sure... but i do know that the "motorsport" headers did not come stock on GT's because I used to know a guy with a 95 mustang Gt a few years ago and his were not motorsport.... So someone must have put them on there or something.

or maybe someone bought them at the dealership when it was new.... this is the kicker on my window sticker for my car is there was a paper that came with is and is says something about the motorsport headers beig in install as a factory option by the dealership. I really don't matter they are still a poor excuse for headers. LOL

Cam specs I believe are the same as the GT, but the 1.7 rockers get it up to a .480 lift int/ext. Produces noticibly more torque. If you get the 95 Cobra you will love it. You will spend a lot of money working around all the Ford programmed junk (like the EEC), but you'l love it. In my opinion you cant beat the 94-98 body style, but the 96-98 4.6L's had some growing pains and I am partial to pushrods. But hey, look what the 4.6L grew into in the 03-04 Cobra and Mach 1, not to mention the 05 4.6L 3V and the 5.0 Cammer. If you just want to go fast and don't have a lot of money to spend, the 1990-1992 LX notch/hatch's are the best bet.
Some 95 Cobra info:
Fuel injectors are 24# stock, but computer treats them like 19#'s. So if you buy a new MAF (C&L or Pro-M) get it calibrated for 19#... If you change injectors all bets are off. Just bought a TwEECer RT to deal with that (and other things)... there goes another $550 bucks!
Also, all 94-95 computers use a timing retard during shifts (rpm decel) to protect the tranny, which sucks HP. Between 3800-4500 RPM there is another built in retard (can't remember why) and there is fuel cut-off rev limiting at 5800 or 6200 RPM depending on where you read about it.
All Mustangs need to be lowered by about 1 to 1.25 inches. I used lowering springs and adjustable shocks, but I almost wish I had used a coil over kit with new K-mem and A arms from the get go. If I switch now it'll just be another waste. Your choice.
94-98's have a narrow rear track, so wheel spacers are a good idea to widen it. Front is 60", rear 58.7".
3.08 Gears were pretty standard in the T-5 (Cobra had a little higher torque rating). I swapped 3.55's and the appt speedo gear for the tire diameter. Couldn't feel much of a change, but 1st gear sure seemed a lot quicker need an up-shift.
T-5 shifter is sloppy. Pro 5.0 or Steeda Tri-ax for the shifter (I went with Steeda).
Enough for now - let me know if you want other info... I've been studying mine since I bought it on a whim a year + ago.
