Default Trick to Rear view Mirror installation?

My rear view mirror came off of my 1995 Ford Mustang Corba. I bought the glue, all set to press but the silver piece wont come off the mirror. I tried glueing the entire unit to the windshield but with poor results.

Give me a clue.. because I dont have one, how do I snap it out. It appears it latches from the side, I hate to break. ???

You need to force the button out of its housing. It'll come out.

I had the same problem. With the mirror off, I got the button out but I had to pry on it with a screwdriver. It won't slide back over it when putting it back on. Any suggestions. I don't want to bust the window
