Default Strong fuel smell even after reducing fuel pressure

My mustang has Mac shorty headers,o/r h-pipe, stock cat back (for now).
I can crank my car and the smell of gas will be really strong. I even tried reducing my BBK regulator down to 30# and it still is strong. The car runs great I just don't like to smell like gas if I stand behind my car while it's running. What can I do to fix it? Put a cat-pipe back on?

The cats have a lot to do with it. They catch a lot of unburnt fuel. My car without cats smelled really bad. I've also noticed that even with cats, if you delete the smog pump, it still smells. I guess it needs that extra bit of air in your exhaust to reduce the emissions.

Do you have any sort of chip? With all of those mods I hope so, because you've changed all of the airflow characteristics of your engine, and added larger injectors, so your computer is probably all off right about now. That will account for your rich start up. The EEC is adaptive but only to a point. Even it needs help sometimes.
