can you fit a staggered rear wheel and tire on the front of a 95 mustang?
i want to know cause i will be in the market for a bad a$$ set of wheels, but i want them to all be equally the same size. i'm looking at a set of 20s, the fronts are 8.5" wide and the rears are 10" wide. i would like to have 20x10 all the way around.
thanks

my Drill instructor always told me....your either gonna be smart or your gonna be strong....which is it gonna be???
20s won't work, even 18s will require mods to the suspension or it will be really squirrely, and do I have to mention how bad it will look with 20s?
Bottom line, remember the car is engineered for 17s so know that before you try something far from stock
I have 17s on the front and 18s on the back of my Cobra, 18s on my 95, but both are highly modified

i'm willing to make the modifications needed to make it work. my car is lowered 2" so far and i plan on adding the x2 ball joints, bumpsteer tie-rods etc. i have seen mustangs with 20s and even 22s that look ok. check the pro-touring.com mustang pics to see what i mean. those street fighter cars are nice!
i just want the front and rear wheels to have as close to equal sized lips as i can get, so they don't look so staggered from the sides, only when you see the wheels from the front or the rear.

They have staggered wheels without the difference in size of lips.
In my opinion anything bigger than a 20 on any Mustangs 05+ is horrible looking, and anything bigger than 18 on a pre 05 Mustang is also horrible. But that is just me, and I like to keep the muscle car look and have a nice ride, the bigger the rims the smaller profile the tire and you get to a point where the tires make the ride uncomfortable. Just my 2 cents.
Also you can never ask a stupid question, better to ask than to do without asking and screw up.

Sorry, but I agree with the rest. Not only does anything beyond 18 in. on a SN95 Mustang verge on rice/bling-ey, is beyond usefulness and will limit performance. See pictures.
If our collective opinion can't sway you and you really want to do this terrible thing:
What dimension wheels do you plan on using (diameter and width)?

First, with that offset you will need big spacers to get them to fit. I have 17x9 in. wheels with a +26mm offset and they are a tight fit (had to use rack limiters). 10 in. wide wheels are tough to fit in front, but it can be done.
Next, 255 width is too narrow for a 10 in. wheel. It may be possible, but it won't be pretty. Remember, 03-04 Cobras and 9 in. wide wheels use 275 width rubber.
Finally, that size wheel with that size tire will raise the ride height of the car over 1-1/4 in. from where it is with a stock tire size (either 245/45-17 or 275/40-17). Plus, if your fender gap is close, it will also be over 1-1/4 in. closer. I hope you have room there...
I will be using 18x10s on all four corners next year with 315/30-18s. 10 in. wide so I can fit 315 Hoosier A6s and 18 in. diameter because (when possible) I run take-offs and 18 in. sizes are easier to find. Those will strictly be for competition.
That fastback probably has 19-20's in the back, and 18s in the front with some major body work, you can tell they flared out the fenders to make room for the turning radius in the front and the fat tires in the back.
The SN95 has 18s
The Foxbody has 17 or 18s
The S197 has 20-22 with a bit of body work.
If you want a look like the SN95 or Foxbody than put on 18s and you'll have that look, you also said you dropped your car 2", that could prevent you from putting anything larger than an 18 on there. You also may have that 4x4 look if not done correctly like in YLDPONYs picture he posted. BTW that picture made me die a little inside.

the 255 tire will be too narrow??? the tire width is in millimeters, so a 255 tire will be 10.2" in width or did i do my math wrong???
my car is also lowered 2" and i'll try to make room
i like your idea of running 10" wides all around, but if i have to go slimmer on the fronts then oh well. i really like that pro-touring / street fighter look

You can fit 255s on a 10 in. wheel, but it won't be pretty. I'm not sure exactly how tire companies measure thread width (and I know different companies vary), but just take a look at a 245 tire on a stock Mustang 17 in. wheel, which is 8 in. wide. The tread is supposed to be 9.646 in. wide, but look at how it fits. The sidewalls are pretty darn straight.
I also would not recommend putting on 10 in. wide wheels on the front for every day driving. Like I said, mine are for competition only.

Well, they all look a bit rice/bling to me... None of them really say "race car" to me. These cars look like race cars to me... because they are. See attached. They are both using Complete Custom Wheels (CCW). I don't know the AIX car (the blue one), they look like 18s, but on Dave's car I'm sure they are 18x10s or possibly 18x11s. No bigger diameter wise.

I was pretty spot on for just guessing at what I saw in the picture.
I don't like the pro touring look, the race car look I like, but not the pro touring.
Also 20x10s in the front will make it look like a freaking 4x4. plus I would imagine the additional 2 inches from most normal tires will require EXTREME body work to allow fully functional turning radius.
