So Im new to forums, what is a SN95 and why is it different from the 94? or any other 5.0 before than? Why is it called SN95? Why is there a specific forum for it? Thanks I currentl have a 95
I know the body changed in 94, but I am curious was the 5.0 from the early foxbodys changed in the 94-95 5.0's? Is the 5.0 in the 94,95's hp lower rated than that of the pre-94 foxbodys?
Also what was changed for 96-98 mustangs besides the taillights? I heard something about hypto-something pistons. Thanks a lot for the help guys
As far as the engine, the 94-95 has a different intake and the front accessories are different from fox style. I am sure there are other differences but those are the biggest changes. As far as 96 and up, they have a 4.6 and so everything is different.

Yeah, the intake had an Elbow Bend put on it in 94-95 models. also, the 94-95 models are listed as having a little more HP than the 93 and back models. in 96 when the 4.6L was introduced, the entire motor changed. the 4.6 motor is Sigle overhead cam design(in the GT) or a Dual overhead cam 32 valve(in the Cobras) while the 5.0 is a pushrod design with one cam.

The 5.0 for 94-95 was pulled right from the 5.0 tbird (lincoln used it too) beacause it was already designed to fit under a shorter hood.
They also came with 4 wheel disc brakes and optional 17" wheels. Braces were added to increase chassis stiffness and rigidity as well. They also weigh a bunch more than foxes and the tilt steering column came back.
I think the factory MAF and TB are a little larger on the SN95's as compared to the Fox cars. They are rated 10hp more than a '93 and 10hp less than '92 and later cars.
the hypto thing you refer to is hypereutectic. Fox cars used forged (stronger better for boost and juice) pistons up to and including the '92 model year. They switched to hypereutectic in '93. The hyper pistons are lighter thus reducing rotating mass but in trade off they can't hadle the power of a forged piece.
