I am trying to install a Mallory Unilite #3770401 on a 94 Mustang GT with the ignition module mounted on the passenger side firewall. The Tech support at Mallory has been of no help. Wiring diagram says to connect green to negative of coil, red to positive and brown to ground. The ignition module wiring harness is a 6 wire plug. Anybody know if there is adapter? Do I just to splice in the wires somewhere? Or do I need to buy an ignition module that uses the 3 male connectors like the one mounted directly to the older ford distributors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not 100% sure that dizzy can even work for your application. The car is still EFI, right? Why not get the part that was made for your application?: Mallory TFI Distributors 7870406
The Mallory Unilite is a complete electronic ignition system inside the distributor. You do not reuse any of the factory TFI components. That being said, it is not compatible with the factory Ford fuel injection system.
It should be used on carbureted or stand-alone FI systems only.

I bought this distributor several years ago but never installed it. It was advertised as a direct fit. It is still being sold as a direct fit on several sites. I called a couple of the tech lines and was told yes it was a direct fit and would work in my vehicle. Hence the reason for my frustrations. I never would have purchased it had I been told otherwise.
I see that now. And it is pretty much what I figured when I first tried to install it. Tech support at some sites need to be a little more familiar with their products. Basically I am back at square one. Originally the Mallory was just going to be an upgrade but now the stock dist. is in need of replacement.
The good news is the one you actually need is $70 cheaper than the one you have (new). If you can find a buyer you should be able to sell what you have for the cost of the correct piece.
In other news... The factory distributor is actually a really good piece. Unless it's broken, there is really nothing to gain from an aftermarket piece.
Sorry for the disappointing news, I hope we've helped, and I hope you get everything figured out.
