Default Shift kit... 1-2 acumulator piston/spring question

I know a few of u guys have shift kits in your AODE trannys.
Well i just finished installing the B&M shift inprover kit. included a few springs for the vavle body, i put those in no problem, installed the 8 check balls and other little parts. Anyhow i came apon a problem.. my
1-2 acumlulator piston was scored at the buttom where the spring is
when i removed the 1-2 acumlulator piston a broken spring fell out, im pretty sure this spring went inside the buttom of 1-2 acumulator piston.
When i went to install the shift kit acumulator piston the directions show and upper and lower spring. thing is only ONE spring came out of the 1-2 piston. And that one spring was broke in 3 pieces. So my question is are theree suposed to be TWO springs in the 1-2 acumulator, or just ONE lower spring? Thanks alot.....

I put in the same exact kit you have. You did it right. One spring comes out and you put the replacement back in. That kit I believe can be used on olde rmodels such as the 93s which has double srpings? There really nice when you get them done...

Mack Daddy.... So does ur car really hit hard and firm going into each gear or is one gear better then the other?
I just finished installing it last nite and took it for a drive today, and it doesnt hit hard at all like i expected it to. It hits into gear, but not nearly what i though it would or should. seems 1st gear is weak and it shifts better into 2nd. As soon as it gets hot, it shifts like crap and just like stock. Also what color spring did u use on that 1-2 acumulator piston? remember? there was a Red on and a Blue one, i used the blue one, it looked skinnier then the Red one. Im sure i drilled the right holes and installed all 8 check balls and the other 2 tiny springs in the valve body. Descirbe to me how ur car shifts, each gear with o/d off or on. thanks alot.....Mike

Mine shifts hard. When Im racing with O/D off it throws you in the back seat from 1 - 2 and keeps you there 2 - 3. You should have noticed a great improvement in shfiting! Mine shifts very hard and firm. When I shift at 5 grand my tires will hop in the back causing my tires to let out a loud scream... I used the blue one I believe...dont hold me to that this was back in May.

Ok well sounds like ive installed the kit correct. Guess the car has other issues. with my mods and the shift kit i should be mid 14's or better should i? First i need to get the tranny checked out, cuase no way does mine hit hard, like you are describing, mine shifts almost identicle to stock, somtimes when its cold it will hit, but not hard. Dam that would be great if it shited like yours, enough to throw me back, with a snap. hmm maybe line presure is down, or a bad presure solinoid....

I installed a Transgo Performance Kit in my 94 GT. I also had the accumulator spring broken in 3 pieces. My kit came with a Double spring for below the piston and an additional spring for above the piston. I installed all 3 as per kit instructions. It also came with new springs for all valves, a new manual valve link and had you leave out one check ball(I only used 7 balls) I beleive it was the one closest to the little filter screen. It made a huge difference in performance. 1-2 shift at full throttle occurs at appr 5600 RPM and will break loose my 285/40ZR17'S
It's a real kick in the pants.

Wow how did u get the tranny to shift at 5600, mine has 373s and the shift kit, and it actually made it shift sooner, my 1-2 shift now is at around 4850-4900rpms. 2-3 shift is about 5100rpms. This is with the tranny in D and o/d off. I know somthings up with my tranny, cuase this shift kit doesnt kit hard at all, and i did everything correct with the kit. Funny thing is it shifts nice from start up till about 2-3 minutes latter .. then it starts shifting like stock.
