Default Horrible Ride Quality

Hey guys i need your input again..You know i have wondered this for a while now but among all the other issues with my car i havent much addressed it. I have Eibach Pro-line springs with 17" cobra rims. These are the same springs i had on my last GT which was a 1994 GT hard top. It is really irratating that no matter where i go or what speed i drive, i have a horrible ride quality. It is just ridiculously stiff and whenever i hit a bump in the road, no matter how big or small, everything inside the car is just loud and it feels like its just going to fall apart. It almost sounds like the interior of the car is all loose I.E...(The dash, door panels, rear plastic where the speakers are, etc, etc.) It's just a very violent, rough ride. Another thing is when i hit bumps it sounds horrible in the front end of the car..Just a loud banging coming from the front wheel-well area's. Like i said i can feel every bump and crack in the road. Nobody even likes riding in my car because its so uncomfortable. I dont think its just the springs because i had the same set in my 94 and the ride quality wasnt nearly as bad. Sadly, I almost hate getting in my car to drive it every day and i have seriously been considering selling it. Please give me a reason not to.

Kris...

Get Steeda Caster Chamber Plates,Bilstein Struts and shocks,
and a alignment and that should help the road quality.
Also you should have gotten the Eibach Pro kit instead
of the Sportlines if you wanted better road quality.

I experienced the same harsh ride with Eibach pro-kit rear springs. I took them off and put the stockers back on after cutting the top coil off to drop the ride about 3/4" and increase the spring rate enough to still have better handling. Dampers didn't matter because of the design of the spring which collapses the top 5 coils to lower the car and leaves a high rate in the bottom 3 coils for absorbing those bumps. Eibach pro-kit's are 300lb/in. I talked with BBK about their's and maximum motor sport about H&R's, and both are designed the same way. I suggest different springs that will have a lower rate, say 260-280lb/in, rate in the bottom 3 coils, plus get better than stock dampers. Check on Steeda's and H&R's to get the drop with a slightly more compliant ride on the street. I wish you luck in your quest for a comfortable ride and rail-like cornering; I'm still searching for the "perfect" combination.

Don't forget that your tires have a lot do with ride quality.
