this just started today and it only happens when the car is in gear (auto trans)...i was driving on the freeway and while cruising it doesnt do it but when i accelerate whethter or not it drops down in thrid it starts sputtering really bad making a mini backfire sound and the higher the rpms the faster the the sputtering is...i just replaced the fuel filter not 2 weeks ago and yes it is goin the right way....i can still hear the fuel pump whirring right before i start the car...i ran 2 bottles of lucas fuel injector cleaner in 2 consecutive tanks and i run 93 octane all the time....some guys said that maybe i got a bad batch of gas but im having a hard time believing that...i thought it might be the fuel pump but i can still hear it kickin in so im confused...any help would be great...im leaving the country next thursday and id like to have this resolved by then so lets here what yall think

i just had the same problem before my water pump took a dump,been waiting a month for pump and hoses to come in.anyways check the cap and rotor plugs and wires.thats where i found my problem.
