Default clean throttle body and IAC?

I have a terrible surging idle in a 94 GT conv. Everones advice in forums is to clean the IAC and throttle body. My Haynes manual and a sticker on the throttle body both say don't clean it due to a special coating in the throttle body that prevents deposits. Who's right? Thanks in advance.

Welcome Aboard!
The throttle body is right!
Your throttle body has a special coating that traps deposits from
going into the engine.Your local Ford Dealership has a special cleaner
they use to clean it with that you can not get and then they clean
the cleaner off with depressed air.I am willing to bet that your IAC
and EGR are both failed and need replacing.I wouldn't clean the IAC
just get a new one.I seriously would take your car to your local Ford
Dealership service dept. because you mite have codes that aren't
triggering the check engine light to come on.Let the Dealership check
it out it can't hurt.Plus they will fine the problem and fix it right the
first time.

What about aftermarket TB's? Do they also have this coating? If not I dont see how cleaning the factory TB would effect anything if you can swap to an aftermarket TB which may or maynot have this coating in them. Has anyone bought a aftermarket TB which stated in the instructions to clean it a certain way or not to clean it at all?
