Default What the heck is a SN95

Probably a stupid question I am going to regret but what the heck is a "SN95" Mustang?

It is the internal design code name for the 94/95 mustangs... kinda like the 79-93 are called fox body mustangs. The code name has to do with the the platform that the car is built on.

I thought the SN95 designation covered Mustangs from '94-'04, even though there were changes to the design starting with the '99 model.

"SN95"= 94-98, same body style. The 99-04 are the "new edge" body. 87-93= fox body ( or what most consider the fox body anyway)

i thought it was the chassis design like fox was 79-93 sn95 was 94-04 and the 05 is s197?. the fox body went throught a makeover in 86? but was still called fox body and the sn95 went through a makeover in 99. the reason i'm saying this is because i know you can use motor mounts from the 94/95 and drop a 5.0L motor in a 99-04 "New Edge" body style stang. that's just my guess though.

Hm... not sure about the motor mounts, but I know the trans from a 99-04 won't work with a 302/351. You would have to go aftermarket (T-5,TKO,etc...). I'm sure you would need a driveshaft too.

The sn95 chassis was 94-04 and they changed the body that they put on that chassis in 99.

Just so everyone is clear.....

'79-'93 Mustang = "Fox" chassis/platform (NOT body)
'94-'04 Mustang = "SN95" chassis/platform
'05-??? Mustang = "S197" chassis/platform

Exactly. But does anyone know why they switched from actual names to platform codes, like Fox>SN95?
