I've been havin this stalling problems for 5 months and a didn´t knew it was this simple as the stator , now i have a 95 and the distributor is TFI-less , no TFI anywhere , im in the process of buying the stator ( hard to find here ) but i have the "fear" that the tfi is also bad , its simple as changing and try , but the main question is , "Where is the TFI in 1995 !!! " , i´ve looked in the radiator , near the maf , and i cant find it
Thanks! i hope is only the stator i really really hate this thing shutting the engine on a light o simple on the move is so irritating!!!
It should be mounted on the passenger fenderwell underneath the intake. It isn't right next to the maf but it shouldn't be but a few inches away so I don't know how you wouldn't have seen it if it is there.

Hello i am new here and only registered to see if this is the same as the problem im having. My 94 Gt automatic has started downshifting at around 50 mph. It really startled me when it first did it, feels like its shifting outta overdrive. Is this similar to what everyone else is having?
So anyone know a good place to get a manual tranny cheap? I have wanted to swap it over for a long time now maybe i got a good reason, btw i live in Panama City Florida.
I know that this reply is going to be a little late but i just had the same problem. The car would start and run then out of no where it would just die even happened while on the highway and thats not a good thing! So i did my home work thinking that it was just the ignition module acting up again right..... wrong half way go figure. After looking every thing over with fine toothed comb it was my distributer. Well thank god my friend had a extra msd in his shop just collecting dust. so we replaced it and wala it works now. But the down side is that it took out my dynamod ignition module also so i have to replace that also which sucks. Now you can just get the replacement stator at any local part store for around 40.00 but i figured my buddy had a msd just laying around why not. So look at the Distributor and you will find your problem.
First of all, I want to say thanks to those who have posted on this and responded with good information about how to fix this stalling problem in 95 Mustangs. I have also had the same stalling at completely random times (3 times on the highway at 65+ MPH is kind of scary). I could not figure out what was going wrong. I just ordered a new distributor (as I am not as mechanically savvy as most of you and would probably have too much trouble just replacing the stator) and hope to put it in this weekend. I am assuming that this will clear up my problems. If not, it is back to guessing once again.
Here is another interesting story associated with this problem. My Mustang stalled on the highway on Saturday night and I was lucky enough to be able to pull it off into the berm by the next exit area and be out of harms way. I was sitting there trying to get it to start and a tow truck pulls over and asks if I needed help. Since I was real frustrated at that time, I decided just to get towed home and worry about it the next day. Well unfortunately I opened my door to get back in and he started to pull up in front of me at the same time and his back tires hit my door and smashed it and broke my window into thousands of pieces. He still towed me home but refused to give me any information (name, license, insurance info) and took off without me even paying for the tow. So I had to put on a new door which I luckily was able to find on www.car-part.com. It is a great site to find cheaper, used parts. And of course the car started up and ran perfectly fine the next day.
I did take down the license plate while the tow truck left, but it has gotten me nowhere. I called the police and they told me to call my insurance company. I called the insurance company and they told me that it was my fault and that I did not have collision ( I dropped it about two months ago) and would be responsible for it. They also told me to call the cops to report him. So I tried to call the police again and had to leave a message and have never heard back from them. I have given up on that end and just hope that replacing the distributor fixes my random engine stalling. It was a terrible mess but at least no one was injured.
my engine shut off on the freeway also doing about 70 just hit 0 rpms flat and i let it go for about 8 secs before i was gona pull slowly to the side then it just kinda gave a hard kick and started back up ...rpms were normal...this never happened until i replaced my air-filter...plugs and wires....ive checked fireing order 3 times....the plugs have been changed twice professionally...it just stalls and turns off at random given times...once i couldnt start it for about 15 mins and had to push my car off the street....lately all ive had to do is through it in park and restart the car....ive purchased the stator like someof you have mentioned and yes it is 30$ plus tax...it looks like the rotor sits on top of this "stator" and plugs into the ignition box ??? ill rip it out today and replace it i hope this fixes my problem or im going for new distributor "solution"......ive replaced fuel filter...already...and ignition to msd high performance...i still dont get why my engine shakes though it seems to have started shaking after we replaced our plugs...one of my mechanics broke one while trying to put it in and i truely believe small shavings went into the spark plug hole.....sorry im new to the car world thanks for all the help.
I wrested with this problem for a couple of months. As you can probably tell by the dates of the postings. Replacing the stator is a pain the rear. On the bright side it's cheap. More then likely you are experiencing the same issue I had. good luck MANG
I did not read the last four pages so not sure if this was mentioned or not -
I had a problem with my car doing this when I was going down the road and I couldn't even get it to start rolling in gear. It looks like it boiled down to a bad ground from the power distribution box to the battery. Some antifreeze got on the wire and corroded it or something to that effect. (I ran the wire a few weeks earlier when the factory wire broke in two.) Regrounded it and seemed to fix my problem.

I got my 95 gt at a good price for the same reason the owner got so mad at it for leaving him on the side of the road. The Hall effect sensor in the distributor was going bad the sensor is cheep but you have to pull the distributer and disassemble it to replace it I decide since my stang had 150000 miles on it the bushings in the distributor was also worn so for a little over a hundred bucks I got a rebuilt one from autozone and replaced it and that took care of that.
You can read in the hanes manual how to test the sensor by probing the wire with a led light I bought one that has different leds that light for different voltages "autozone again" and mine would barly light the 6 volt led it should be near the 12 volt led that lights "They don't tell you this in the Hanes manual"
The ignition module is mounted on the fender wall to a heat sink so don't confuse the hall effect sensor with it just read about it in the hanes it won't stear you wrong
Hey man, I just had the same problem, and it was the ground wire that goes from the bottom of your engine mount to the frame, its a little wire that is braded and flat so it is a little hard to find, but it if offten the problem, and it costs about 4-5 bucks to replace, just go find a 12-15 inch ground cable, and replace it. I replaced my dizzy, my constant control relay module, my ignition control module, my coil, and many other parts, and it did not fix the problem , so I put it on a lift, and used a drop light to stare at the bottom of my car for about an hour when i finally spotted the wire.I replaced it after cleaning the connection points and it started right up, and now runs fine. I know thats what the problem was, because my car only ran about 10 min before It would die on me, so it was a little bit worse than yours. It is amazing how such a little wire can make a big differnace. Well hope that this helps you out, man. peace, and good luck.
