94-95 intake adapter, problem matching with manifold
I just recently purchased a new Mac 94-95 intake manifold adapter for my mustang so I could remove the stock manifold and put in a GT40 intake that I have. I put the adapter up to the hole on the opening of the manifold and it doesn't match up very well....the air charge looks like it will hit a lip on the manifold. Upon further inspection I can see that the opening on the manifold is a fairly clean circle; however, the opening on the adapter is a little "egg-shaped". The opening for the throttle body also looks sort of egg-shaped too. I am thinking that this adapter is poorly made. Has anyone else had problems like this?
I'm thinking I could port the manifold to match, but I don't really want to disfigure my manifold. I also could weld some aluminum material onto the adapter and then grind it down to make it match. I'd really like to get my parts on my car and make this thing work, but I'm also thinking that perhaps I should return this part and try another manufacturer. Any thoughts by you guys?

I've never seen the mac piece, but my edelbrock adapter lines up with my trick flow good.

I have heard that with the GT-40 you actually have to use the Ford adapter. I have also heard the MAC elbow is crappola and is not machined well at all.
GT Dan, keep me informed on your status with the adapter. The edelbrock matches up great to the Explorer/GT40 so that I would think is a match. I just bought a GT-40 setup for $375.00 new. I would like to hear your outcome. Thanks!

I personally have never bought anything from MAC, but everything I have helped install that my friends have bought from them sucks. So go with the Edelbrock adapter.

GT Dan, Im guessing you got a bad MAC elbow. I just looked a Mac inlet adapter and it lines up perfect..no modfying needed. ...Maybe you got a bad egg?

It was definately bad.....that's ok it just went back. I ordered the Ford (SVO) unit since I'm going to be running the GT40 intake. I'm gonna try to get it on here soon before the race season is over and go run it. I got a few more goodies to get though or swap before I pull everything apart. U got your stuff on your car Mac....and if so how is it running?

Actually no...I told you about the inlet adapter I purchased for dirt cheap? ...Welll the guy didnt understand what he had...He sent me a 90° elbow from a 97 Explorer . I have an e-mail with him telling me it was made specifically for the 94-95 mustang . The EGR is turned the wrong way...I bougth the Mac piece yesterday in Dayton, OH (Where MAC is loacted) and matched it up..worked ok for me...never again will I buy online....
