Default Convertible Top Problem, 1994 Mustang GT

Just replaced entire frame and top on my 94 GT.... (Car top and frame shredded by barbed wire fence). I had to disconnect the lines from the pump to the top to do the r&r and now the motor wont put the top up or down. Do I need to bleed the lines? or do is it self bleeding and in need of more fluid... what kinda fluid would this take ... brake/ clutch fluid? Any help appreciated.

Default convertible top slow on operation

i have a 95 convertible that since ive had it i noticed the top operating slower and slower. not sure its the motor but i read somewhere you could use a turkey baster or something to put fluid in the conv motor to run smooth. what else could i use to put in the fluid and what type of fluid do i use? there were picures of how do this procedure so if any one knows the link ill check back soon to get started on it. really would like to put my top down once again so any help would be much appreciated.

you can buy hydraulic fluid which is whats in there but i'm positive another type is interchangable with it. it might be power steering but please don't take my word on that and find out the correct answer. basically from what i've read about filling it is that you need to lower the top then look in the fill hole and the level should be about 1/4 of an inch from the bottom of the fill hole. if it is lower fill it to that but not over it. over filling would put too much pressure on the system and blow something up.

Might be best to get new cylinders to be safe.

In my experience, the system will bleed itself while operating. However, all cavities must be filled (primed) so the fluid will move. I've used hydraulic jack oil in my convertible top systems but an online search will turn up a couple convertible top restoration places that sell specific fluids.
My 91's top is slow. Must be some fluid getting by the older seals. Fortunately, all components (motor/pump assembly, rams, hoses, switches, relays) are available from several vendors.

yeah cuz the other day going to the movies with some friends the top wouldnt go back up. i could hear the motor working but wouldnt rise. i had to press the switch while 2 other people carefully picked up the top. then after it rose a little it went up by it self. too afraid to put the top down since but cmon its a convertible it sucks that i cant use it. ill try getting fluid for it but would hate to buy another motor seeing how its about 250 bucks.
