Thumbs down Smog Pump bearing

I think i made a mistake washing my engine with an "special" de-grease for engines , since then my smog pump is screaming like a pig , i know is the ball bearing , now im giving a lot of thougts in a smog pump elimination kit, or open it and grease the bearing, replacing bearing whatever can be done to fix ( smog pumps will be a pita to get in here, and/or price for a new one will be really high, and im short on cash right now), however i want to know if there are any repercutions good-bad etc etc on the removal of the pump , im worried in pingin or detonation , timing @ 13, is there any real worries involved in removal ( besides the un-instalation , wich is easy)

Edit: Sorry engine is 100% stock , only timing advance, but mods will start in not much time.

I'd just remove the whole smog system and run a shorter belt, unless you have to go through inspection. But it will throw a code at te CPU and the Check Engine light will come on unless you get a chip or keep the EGR plugged in and set it off to the side(which is what i did). I've got mine unhookedand i've going to get a shorter belt soon. I think it's about 20-30 lbs forthe system and 100lbs is worth a .1 sec in the 1/4 or so i'm told.

Well actually i see this tech article from here :
http://www.allfordmustangs.com//techarticles/Smog2.pdf

and to me the entire EGR is un-touched only the ripping of the pump and the tubbing, so it should not be a problem to the ECU?

If your still running cats then I'd leave the pump on.....
I had one bind up...I took it apart, it's fairly easy....mine happened to be the wipers in the pump...the pump was full of crud on the walls and the wipers were binding up...The pump just has 4 or so plastic wiper that turn and create the airflow.....I cleaned the walls on the inside and oiled up the bearings....was fine after that...and mine was seized and wouldn't even turn...
That washing with the degreaser may have been enuf to bring it over the edge??...mine did it outta nowhere...
I think you remove the pulley...then 3 or 4 long screws hold the thing together....undo them and it comes apart...there's not alot of moving parts to it...mine was a few years ago...but it's do-able to take apart for cleaning if your game...

Im no longer running the cats , all the exaust system is stock , the "pre-cats" wich connect with the headers are still there and the stock silencers, but no longer running cats

..

Huh....pre-cats?? you have 4 cats in the stock system...No?? The smog pump puts air into those cats to assist in emissions as your prolly aware, but running with no smog may allow those "pre-cats" as you call em to get hella hot??? Might makes the O/2s reading freak out??? Just thinking out loud here..
Not an emissions guru by no means, I was under the assumption that the smog or airpump should be hooked up if the cats are still in place...??

Ok finally i get sick of the anoying sound , so in a desperate act i opened the pump and I saw the problem , inside the pump there is a small shaft that "centers" two blades , each blade relies on 2 bearings one bearing just melted , so the blade when turning was dragging against the wall making the anoying noise , the pump is "pressure" made , so there was no much of a fix at the time , thinking in a solution i moved a blade and some "support" that center the blade just snapped and i was doomed haha , at this point im really pissed off, so i decided to rip off all the pump contents (BTW a reall PITA), only leaving the two main bearings , so now my pump is useless , since i donīt have any cats i decided to put it back and see what happens , noise is gone (Duh!) and the car is running well , no CE light no problems at all , even with the stock exaust (no cats ) the tone of the exaust is a little bit more deep , and i get rid of that popping sound on 3K or + rpm on deacceleration , now that i see there is no problem without the pump im thinking in the deletion kit pulley and ripping all the system, just as the PDF in the tech articles. ( Quoted earlier )

I donīt hear any pinging or detonation at WOT or idle.

Does anybody think there should be a problem?? as i said only timing @13 and no cats everything is bone stock
