Unhappy parking brake recall and confusion

I recently chased my mustang a few houses because my e brake didnt engage proper, and i didnt leave in gear so i looked into the recalls for the car doin some research and sure enough there was a recall for the brake not engaging correctly. well the result of the years of the car and the pressure the cables were under during the rollaway of my vehicle caused the sheetmetal to split where the cables from the park brake go through the vehicle floorboard. thus now my cables are grinding on top of my driveshaft. Ford did the recall by putting some kind of c clamp type mechanism on the park brake but isnt considering the floor as being the fault of the original recall. If the brake worked properly then my floor wouldnt be ripped and my driveshaft wouldnt be grinding(louder with more passengers in car due to weight). I was just needing your opinions if you think ford should consider this as damage due to the faulty ebrake and repair it , or if i should shell out the money for this which is going to be very expensive through ford and drive off broke with no gas money

Hey I have just realised that i have the same prolem.
I have a 90 GT. I have got the brake handle out and cleared away the bent metal. Di you weld in a new peice from below or above. I am trying to decide if I can do this myself or if I should go to a shop.
Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

yep, i had to weld a metal plate over the split in the sheet metal ( i welded from above, It would be way too difficult under). It helped it, but i still need to fix my e brake because it wont lock the wheels.I'm guessing its loose at my rear wheels. also be careful with your carpet when welding the floor.
